Throughout out the history of the world many documents have had profound influences upon humanity. The Magna Carte, The Declaration of Independence, and even the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx are examples of some of the documents that have helped to shape humanity. The Bible has had perhaps more impact on humanity than any other Document ever written. Many people read the Bible, but know little of the history of the Bible itself. The history of the Bible is a fascinating story of the creation of the Bible versions seen today. Many people are familiar with at least some of the contents of the Bible, but the average person knows little of the people, processes, and events involved in its creation and translations. The Bible is a collection of texts sacred to Jews and Christians. Judaism and Christianity may both use the word Bible, however the texts included in their respective collections differ. The Bible canons of other religions may contain other books. These books may sometimes have different divisions or combinations. Other religious groups may include additional materials in their respective Bible canon. The Bible is not a singluar work. In fact, many Bibles exist each with differing contents. The history of the Bible begins with the Ten Commandments given to Moses. Some Years later God gave Moses the written and oral Torah. The Torah consists of the Pentateuch and the other twenty books of the Tanakh. The Tanakh contains three subdivisions,

Compare/Contrast - Clean Well Lighted Place and Sonnys Blues

Conflicts Within and Amongst Protagonists A Clean Well-Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway and Sonnys Blues by James Baldwin are interestingly tied together with their protagonists. Both are faced with various obstacles in their lives which are the main focus of each story, however, neither of the stories are written in the perspective of the central character. Nor are the struggles they face ever mentioned outright; instead, they become more defined as each story progresses. The protagonist in A Clean Well-Lighted Place, an elderly man, seems to have a comfortable life, one that the character of a young waiter finds enviable in some ways, and yet, in the week prior to the setting of the story, he tried to commit suicide. The protagonists are misunderstood by their own family members and interestingly react the same way to th is conflict. The elderly man and Sonny are understood even less by society than they are by their family members making them both outcasts of society. Their beliefs and actions go against the norm and the comfort level of the people they encounter, making them both misunderstood by those around them. Thus, both characters face a struggle between their own beliefs and what society wants them to conform to. Sonny grew up in Harlem where the societal norm for most of Harlems youth was to drop out of school at a young age, join local gangs, and to turn to drugs and alcohol. One day they were playing when Polly wanted to show Digory her secret place. It was up in her attic. She hid many things there. She hid fruits and snacks to eat and a lot of other stuff to. Digory noticed a door across the attic. Back then the houses were connected together and they thought that if they would cross the rafters and open the door they could sneak into a house and the next and so on. The reason for all of this was that one of the houses down a ways was abandon. So they started off, one rafter at a time.
